Reading I (Dt 6:2-6)
A reading from the Book of Deuteronomy
Moses spoke to the people, saying:
"Fear the LORD, your God,
and keep, throughout the days of your lives,
all his statutes and commandments which I enjoin on you,
and thus have long life.
Hear then, Israel, and be careful to observe them,
that you may grow and prosper the more,
in keeping with the promise of the LORD, the God of your fathers,
to give you a land flowing with milk and honey.
"Hear, O Israel! The LORD is our God, the LORD alone!
Therefore, you shall love the LORD, your God,
with all your heart,
and with all your soul,
and with all your strength.
Take to heart these words which I enjoin on you today."
The word of the Lord.
Bài Ðọc I: (Ðnl 6, 2-6)
“Hỡi Israel, hãy nghe đây: Ngươi hãy yêu mến Chúa hết lòng ngươi”.
Trích sách Ðệ Nhị Luật.
Ông Môsê nói cùng dân chúng rằng: “Các ngươi hãy kính sợ Chúa là Thiên Chúa các ngươi, hãy tuân giữ mọi huấn lệnh và giới răn của Người mà tôi truyền dạy cho các ngươi, cho con cái cháu chắt các ngươi tuân giữ mọi ngày trong đời sống các ngươi, để các ngươi được sống lâu dài.
“Hỡi Israel, hãy nghe đây mà tuân hành các điều Chúa truyền dạy cho ngươi, thì ngươi được phần phúc và sinh sản ra nhiều hơn, như lời Chúa là Thiên Chúa tổ phụ ngươi đã hứa ban cho ngươi phần đất chảy sữa và mật.
“Hỡi Israel, hãy nghe đây, Chúa là Thiên Chúa chúng ta, là Chúa độc nhất. Hãy yêu mến Chúa là Thiên Chúa ngươi hết lòng, hết linh hồn và hết sức ngươi. Những lời tôi truyền cho ngươi hôm nay, phải ghi tạc vào lòng”.
Ðó là lời Chúa.
Responsorial Psalm (Ps 18:2-3, 3-4, 47, 51)
R. (2) I love you, Lord, my strength.
Ðáp: Lạy Chúa là dũng lực con, con yêu mến Chúa (c. 2).
I love you, O LORD, my strength,
O LORD, my rock, my fortress, my deliverer.

Xướng: Lạy Chúa là dũng lực con, con yêu mến Chúa; lạy Chúa là đá tảng, chiến luỹ, cứu tinh.
My God, my rock of refuge,
my shield, the horn of my salvation, my stronghold!
Praised be the LORD, I exclaim,
and I am safe from my enemies.
R. I love you, Lord, my strength.
Xướng: Lạy Chúa là Thiên Chúa, là sơn động chỗ con nương mình, là khiên thuẫn, là uy quyền cứu độ, là sức hộ phù con. Con xướng ca khen ngợi cầu cứu Chúa, và con sẽ được cứu thoát khỏi tay quân thù.
The LORD lives! And blessed be my rock!
Extolled be God my savior.
You who gave great victories to your king
and showed kindness to your anointed.
R. I love you, Lord, my strength.
Xướng: Vạn tuế Thiên Chúa, chúc tụng Ðá Tảng của con, ngợi khen Thiên Chúa là Ðấng cứu độ con. Ngài đã ban cho đức vua được đại thắng, đã tỏ lòng từ bi với Ðấng được xức dầu của Ngài.
Reading II (Heb 7:23-28)
A reading from the Letter to the Hebrews
Brothers and sisters:
The levitical priests were many
because they were prevented by death from remaining in office,
but Jesus, because he remains forever,
has a priesthood that does not pass away.
Therefore, he is always able to save those who approach God through him,
since he lives forever to make intercession for them.
It was fitting that we should have such a high priest:
holy, innocent, undefiled, separated from sinners,
higher than the heavens.
He has no need, as did the high priests,
to offer sacrifice day after day,
first for his own sins and then for those of the people;
he did that once for all when he offered himself.
For the law appoints men subject to weakness to be high priests,
but the word of the oath, which was taken after the law,
appoints a son,
who has been made perfect forever.
The word of the Lord.

Whoever loves me will keep my word, says the Lord;
and my father will love him and we will come to him.

Gospel (Mk 12:28b-34)
A reading from the holy Gospel according to Saint Mark
One of the scribes came to Jesus and asked him,
"Which is the first of all the commandments?"
Jesus replied, "The first is this:
Hear, O Israel!
The Lord our God is Lord alone!
You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart,
with all your soul,
with all your mind,
and with all your strength.
The second is this:
You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
There is no other commandment greater than these."
The scribe said to him, "Well said, teacher.
You are right in saying,
'He is One and there is no other than he.'
And 'to love him with all your heart,
with all your understanding,
with all your strength,
and to love your neighbor as yourself'
is worth more than all burnt offerings and sacrifices."
And when Jesus saw that he answered with understanding,
he said to him,
"You are not far from the kingdom of God."
And no one dared to ask him any more questions.
The Gospel of the Lord.
Phúc Âm: (Mc 12, 28b-34)
“Ðó là giới răn thứ nhất, còn giới răn thứ hai cũng giống như giới răn thứ nhất”.
Tin Mừng Chúa Giêsu Kitô theo Thánh Marcô.
Khi ấy, có người trong nhóm luật sĩ tiến đến Chúa Giêsu và hỏi Người rằng: “Trong các giới răn điều nào trọng nhất?” Chúa Giêsu đáp:
“Giới răn trọng nhất chính là: Hỡi Israel, hãy nghe đây: Thiên Chúa, Chúa chúng ta, là Chúa duy nhất, và ngươi hãy yêu mến Thiên Chúa ngươi hết lòng, hết linh hồn, hết trí khôn và hết sức ngươi. Còn đây là giới răn thứ hai: Ngươi hãy yêu mến tha nhân như chính mình ngươi. Không có giới răn nào trọng hơn hai giới răn đó”.
Luật sĩ thưa Ngài: “Thưa Thầy, đúng lắm! Thầy dạy phải lẽ khi nói Thiên Chúa là Chúa duy nhất và ngoài Người chẳng có Chúa nào khác nữa. Mến Chúa hết lòng, hết trí khôn, hết sức mình, và yêu tha nhân như chính mình thì hơn mọi lễ vật toàn thiêu và mọi lễ vật hy sinh”.
Thấy người ấy tỏ ý kiến khôn ngoan, Chúa Giêsu bảo: “Ông không còn xa Nước Thiên Chúa bao nhiêu”. Và không ai dám hỏi Người thêm điều gì nữa.
Ðó là lời Chúa.
