A. Introduction
a) To the Holy Mass
Dear
Sisters and Brothers in Christ, good morning!
Welcome
to Saint Dominic’s Parish Church for the celebration of the 22nd Sunday
in the Ordinary Time, Year A.
As followers of Christ, we, similar
to the apostles, have been walking with the Lord a long journey, listening to
Him teach the Good News of salvation, watching Him heal the sick, forgive
sinners, and raise the dead.
The seed of faith sowed into our
hearts has grown up, yet it still needs water and fertilizer for better
development. The Word of God plays an important role in strengthening our
faith in Christ when we face many forms of crisis.
Let us renew, in this Holy Mass, our
resoluteness in following Christ Our Lord and Savior, even though we have to go
with Him up to Jerusalem, the summit of the sacrifice on the Cross.
Please
all stand for the entrance hymn.
b) To
the Readings
- First
Reading Jer 20:7-9
The
Prophet Jeremiah shares with us his experience about being called by the Lord
God to become an announcer of His Word. There were doubt, hesitation, and
even fear. Finally, human freedom gave up to divine Holy Will just
because of love: love of God and love for God have met in Christ’s saving mission.
- Second
Reading Rom 12:1-2
Saint
Paul encourages Christians to be persevering in their vocation to bear witness
of God saving power in the face of this changing world, by unceasingly renewing
themselves in accordance with divine teaching.
