A. Introduction to the Holy Mass
Dear Sisters and Brothers in
Christ.
Good morning!
Welcome to Saint Dominic’s
Parish Church for the celebration of our Sunday Holy Mass on the Third Week of
Advent, in the Liturgical Year A.
As we are waiting for the
coming of the Lord, we are also encouraged to be patient the way farmers are
working on the fields for a better harvest. In His faithfulness to what
He has promised, and mercy on short-tempered human beings, the Lord teaches us
how to recognize the signs of His power always active in the world, in our
everyday life in particular.
We pray in this Holy Mass for
the grace of perseverance in faith in the Lord, the Master of history, and in
charity works for the good of our neighbors, in order to speed up Christ’s
coming in glory.
Please all stand for the the
entrance hymn.
B. Introduction to the Readings
a) First Reading Is 35:1-6 a
Amidst difficulties and
suffering, particularly when having nothing to hope for and no one to rely
on, people always think of a hero, a savior powerful enough to rescue
them from all forms of evil. God of love and compassion never lets
humanity await in vain His salvation plan. This belief having been proven
true in the history of Israel in the Old Testament time surely continues its
effectiveness in our present days.
b) Second Reading Jas 5:7-10
The Apostle of the Lord, Saint
James, teaches Christians this reality that the more patiently and humbly they
wait for the time of the Lord, the stronger their faith becomes, and the
worthier their prayer.
