Homily for The Most Holy Trinity Sunday—Year B (May 31, 2015)

We Live by the Love of the Most Holy Trinity

Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

This Sunday we celebrate the solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity.  We are taught of the mystery of the God Who is One but Who has three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

God the Father is the first Divine Person Who introduced Himself through the creation of the world, and in particular through the making of the human person to whom He gave His breath of life in order that man may know Him, love Him and finally share in His happy and ever-lasting life.

God the Son came to the rescue of a hopeless humanity when evil consequences of sin have almost destroyed God the Father’s works.  In order to restore the human race to its original dignity, the Son had to lay down His own life as an act of loving obedience to the Father Whose merciful heart was gravely offended by an ungrateful humanity.

God the Holy Spirit was sent by the Father and the Son to guide the human race into the way of salvation which can be found only in the Church founded by Christ Jesus, the Son of God, our Lord and Savior.

The Christian community owes the Most Holy Trinity a huge sea of gratitude.

We Christians were born again to new life through water and the Holy Spirit in the name of the Most Holy Trinity.

We are forgiven our sins through the life sacrifice of the Son in the name of the Most Holy Trinity.
We are consecrated in religious life and in priestly ministry in the name of the Most Holy Trinity.
We are united in marriage life through the Sacrament of Matrimony in the name of the Most Holy Trinity.

Our journey on earth starts from the love of the Most Holy Trinity Who created us, saved us, and made us holy, and will one day come to our heavenly home to see face to face the three Divine Persons of the One God: the Father, the Son , and the Holy Spirit.  Amen.
