A. Introduction
a) To the Holy Mass
Dear
Sisters and Brothers in Christ, good morning!
Today
we celebrate the Feast of Saint Dominic, Founder of the Order of Preachers,
also known as the Dominicans.
Born
8 centuries ago, Saint Dominic is still preaching to us the saving truth of
Jesus Christ, Our Lord and Savior.
Indeed, the message of the Gospel brought to the world by the First
Preacher, Who claims to be the Way, the Truth, and the Life, has been transmitted
and explained faithfully by Saint Dominic’s children.
We
thank God for the gift of Saint Dominic and his preaching community. We pray in this Holy Mass for the grace of
courage which the preachers of truth badly need, particularly in this time of
crisis when “people will not tolerate sound doctrine”, so as God’s Word would
not be chained.”
Please
all stand for the entrance hymn.
b) To the Readings
-
First Reading Is 52:7-10
The
Prophet Isaiah offers us so beautiful a picture of the preacher who, on his
mission trip through many and different places, brings the Good news of God’s
saving love to all peoples and nations.
-
Second Reading 1 Tim
4:1-5
Saint
Paul urges his disciple, Bishop Timothy, to be persistent and patient in
proclaiming the Word of salvation. This
message becomes more timely than ever in our world when more false teaching can
be found than true one.
