A. Introduction
a)
To the Holy Mass
Dear Sisters and
Brothers in Christ,
Good morning!
We celebrate today
together with the universal Church the First Sunday of Lent, Year A. We have just started last Ash Wednesday the
Lenten Season in preparation for the most important mystery of Christian faith:
the Resurrection of Christ Our Lord.
This Sunday’s Gospel
when telling us the story of how Christ kept fasting in the desert and was
tempted by Satan reminds us of the ongoing struggle for salvation which we can
only win by relying on the Merciful God’s love and the saving power of the
Risen Lord Who conquered the world.
Please all stand for
the entrance hymn.
b)
To the Readings
-
First Reading Gen: 2:7-9; 3:1-7
The Book of Genesis
tells us about the dark chapter of human history where man violated God’s
commandment by going beyond the limit of his human responsibility: eating the
fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
-
Second Reading Rom 5:12-19
Saint Paul sees
death of man the consequence of his sin.
Christ offered His own life to destroy the power of sin, thus the power
of death, so as to restore man to his original state of righteousness.
