A. Introduction
a) To the Holy Mass
Dear
Sisters and Brothers,
Good
morning!
We
start today the second Sunday in the Ordinary Time, Year A, with Saint Matthew
as the main and characteristic resource for the Gospel reading.
The
Ordinary Time, rarely interrupted by solemn season celebrations such as
Christmas and Easter, is intended to deepen the profound mysteries of Our
Lord’s saving events of which the most essential remains the Resurrection of
Christ.
This
Sunday we will contemplate the role of Christ introduced by Saint John the
Baptist as “the Lamb of God, Who takes
away the sins of the world.”
b) To the Readings
-
First Reading Is
49:3.5-6
The
Prophet Isaiah sees the coming Christ the Servant of the Lord God, Who, as the
light of the world, will make God’s Holy Name known to all nations.
-
Second Reading 1 Cor

are, in Saint Paul’s view, called to be holy in Christ Jesus together with all
those who invoke His Name.
