A. Introduction to the Holy Mass
Dear
Sisters and Brothers in Christ,
Good
morning!
We
start this Sunday the first Week of the Advent Season, and the beginning of the
new year of the Sacred Liturgy of the Church.
We
have four weeks before Christmas to prepare for the Birthday of the Lord and
Savior of the world.
In
this Holy Mass we pray to God the Father for the grace of renewal of our heart,
mind, and way of life, so as to be worthy of the coming of His Son.
Please
all stand to sing the entrance hymn.
B. Introduction to the Readings
a)
First Reading Is
2:1-5
The
Prophet Isaiah depicts the beautiful and impressive scenario of peace long
awaited by all peoples and nations. Only
faith in the one Lord and God Whom the human family comes to worship will
reconcile and unite those once engaged in bloody conflicts.
b) Second Reading Rom 13:11-14
Saint
Paul urges Christians to give up their old and sinful way of life to put on
Christ—meaning to say—to conduct a life that reflects the power of God Who has
brought them from the darkness of sin to the light of salvation.
