A. Introduction
a) To the
Holy Mass
Dear Sisters and Brothers,
Good morning!
As we celebrate the 16th Sunday today we listen to
the Lord blessing the old man Abraham with the gift of a son for his
hospitality. It is obviously a great
honor and privilege to serve the Lord. However, hearing the Word of God and
putting it into practice will make Christian discipleship perfect.
Kindly all stand for the entrance hymn.
b) To the
Readings
- First Reading: Gn 18:1-10a
For his wholehearted hospitality, the patriarch
Abraham was granted by Yahweh God what he and his family had longed for: a
child and heir, born of old parents. God
always has a solution to whatever problem which humans think is
unsolvable.
- Second Reading: Col 1:24-28
Saint Paul believes that his suffering, hence that
of Christians, can fill up what is lacking in the afflictions of Christ for the
salvation of the human family. This
Christian view on the correlation between Christ’s redemptive work and human
suffering brings not only encouragement to those who suffer from all forms of
pain but also enlightenment into the darkness of human life.
